Santa Whimsies
I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe!
As coronavirus surges across the US I know many families, like my own, have decided to forgo that traditional Santa photos. I'm now offering composited images to bring a little socially distanced, Christmas magic to you. These fun little edits are BYOP (bring your own photo, haha) You send me the photograph of your family, kid, pet.... and I'll composite an image with Santa. I have licenses to use these backgrounds, but if you have a different vision I may be able to secure other options as well.
*Note the snow angles background can be completed with 1,2,3 or 4 people!!
How does it work?
You take a photo of the person you’d like to be photoshopped into the background. Send me that full resolution image and let me know what background you are hoping for. I’ll work to composite the images together and provide you with some Christmas magic!
Here are my tips for getting the best results.
Even soft lighting is the best, try to avoid deep shadows or bright spots. Window light, or a cloudy day can be perfect, or a solid shady spot as long as it's not too dark.
The highest resolution photo you can get the better, if you have a dslr that is perfect, I can work with phone photos no problem, just know these won't be able to be printed as large.
It's best if the photo is taken at eye level so it's not looking up or down, most adults will need to kneel down to get the right angle.
Best if it's taken on a hard surface so less editing out grass or blankets.
And of course think of the pose you might want if you like a specific background pictured, you will want to think about where the person is looking and how exactly they are sitting or standing. Don't worry about copying the pose you see in these examples.
Embrace the fun and magic of it! we told our kids to pretend like Santa was REALLY there, and told them it would be a magic photo, that Santa would appear later when it was finished, they loved the results.
*Please know these are just suggestions, I'll work with anything, and give you the best results I can, these are just hints.
And lastly if you're having someone else take the photos make sure you have permission for me to work on them :)
Here is one of my before and after photos, taken on my back deck, it was a BRIGHT sunny day, so I knew we couldn’t stand in the sunlight without having harsh shadow on her face. So the back was perfect for even shade with no bright spots. We first attempted this photo inside because it was a perfect day for window light, but my daughter enjoyed the pretend of being outside “on a hike with Santa”

Pricing - for the 2020 Holiday season prices are $25 a piece and then $10 per additional subject. (for example most of the samples above with my two kids would be $35)
